it’s not illegal, but, definitely not reccomendable for a variety of reasons. the main one being that piercing guns are multi use and cannot be sterilised, even if the person using it ‘cleans’ it, a whole load of nasty stuff from previous customers blood spray (tiny, microscopic, particles of blood that often can’t be seen unless in slow motion) will be left on it, meaning that if someone before you had a blood borne disease like HIV or hepititis c, that would be left on the gun and in theory could get into your blood stream. another bad thing about guns are that the jewellery used in them is usually bad quality and no good for being used in fresh piercings, the stem of a butterfly stud is hardly ever long enough to deal with the swelling and the jewellery will probably contain some nickel which is not good for the piercing. if a gun is used on cartilidge you risk having your cartilidge collapse, thsi is because the sheer amount of pressure and tissue damage that comes with using a gun
