Is it true chloroform makes people pass out for hours, if so it sounds crazy?
Chloroform after eather was used for years in the medical field to put patients to sleep for surgery. It was easy to aphyxiate the patient with too much and in closed areas would affect the doctors and nurses with the fumes. One of the really bad things was its flammability, especially in gaseous form. Least spark and a flash fire had to be dealt with. Also, exposure to the liquid would cause blistering on the skin. If ingested while asleep, it would cause violent nausea in the patient. Some would have this reaction while asleep and would breathe in the fluids. This would lead to pneumonia as a minimum. Not a pretty thing to use , but was all that was available in the progression of medical procedures.
