Is it true Chinese eat dogs,cats,lizards ?
Quick answer is ,Yes. Some Chinese eat lots of things we consider strange in the ‘western world’ I lived in China for 3 years. I was once in Xian and went into what I thought was a pet shop, only to find out it was actually a butchers! My husband at the time was Chinese. He had some family that came from a really traditional background. They used to love going to old traditional restaurants and testing out what Id be willing to eat. Boiled pig intestines and deep fried baby birds were probably the worst – I couldnt swallow the dog meat but had a try! They tend to believe that you gain certain strengths from the animals you eat. They also like their meat to be fresh as possible – so its not unusual to choose your food in a restaurant before it is killed and prepared for you. Alot of this goes back to their ancient and (not so ancient) history. During the revolution some people – citizens and soldiers – were starving and had no option but to survive on lizards, rats, tree bark and grass
