Is it true an ambulance can charge you a call out fee for going into labour?
The position in the UK is that charges can be imposed by emergency ambulances where the person using them has been responsible for an accident occasioning emergency treatment. This is not applicable to being taken into hospital while in labour, although if a woman went spontaneously into labour as the result of a road traffic accident which she had caused, there might be an argument for applying the charge. http://www.opsi.gov.uk/Acts/acts1999/ukp…
