Is it too late to start Iceskating lessons at 16?
No, you’ll actually do well as long as you aren’t afraid of falling. Everyone falls, it’s part of skating. Teenagers typically do well because they have: Drive – they WANT to skate well, as opposed to little kids who are there because of their parents. Determination – they know how to work towards a goal; little kids get frustrated and give up easily. Patience – Teens know that they have to practice to master things; kids think it should just happen. Control – Kids often can’t or won’t do what the instructor tells them, like turning a shoulder and keeping it there. Teens have stronger body control and awareness. One bit of advice: get a good pair of skates, even if they’re used ones from the pro shop. Don’t try to use rental skates – they’re usually dull, beat up and broken down. It’s NEVER too late to start skating. It’s a sport that you can do for the rest of your life.
