Is It Time to Start Using Vitamin C for Cancer Prevention?
The results of this study are encouraging, but it shouldn’t motivate anyone to start taking megadoses of vitamin C to prevent or treat cancer. Some studies have shown that vitamin C has no effect on cancer risk. The results of one large study involving 14,000 men (Physician’s Health Study 2) showed that vitamin C supplements had no impact on either prostate cancer risk or the risk of getting any other type of cancer. Studies have even looked at whether high doses of vitamin C improve survival of people with advanced cancer – and the results have been disappointing.
