Is it time for a change in the drink drive law?
Many states are now processing a death (as a result of a DUI crash) as murder. It’s not in the news that much yet, because not that many convictions have arisen. But, I believe it’s coming. Notice, DUI crashes are now called crashes everywhere. They’re no longer referred to as ‘accidents.’ DUI laws have been changing quite a bit in the last ten years. I also agree with you. I’ve been convicted of a DUI myself…a year ago. I ran off the road in a snowstorm after a few beers at a bar. My BAC was only 0.086… Doesn’t seem too drunk, does it? Yet, it’s over the legal limit. I figure each drink I had that evening cost me over $1,200 with the DUI, lawyer fees, etc. I thank God each and every day that I didn’t hurt anyone (including myself). I met someone in the classes that had spent time in jail for his DUI. He’d killed his best friend and spent 3 years in State Penn. DUI classes were part of his release. He’ll never get his license back (State of IL). He’s living the rest of his life wit
I am in agreement with you that if you drink and drive then it should be a life time ban and that is it. Just think there would be no confusion then about people trying to work out if they have had too much. It causes so much misery and we here of so many instances where it happens look at the recent one of the family killed by an already convicted drunk driver two young children left with no family.
