Is it time for 100% inspection of goods imported from China?
Going back well over ten years ago, I was cautioned about lead contamination within plastics made in China. I would not allow my children to wear the commonly seen, made in China plastic bracelets back then. Recently, we have seen the media report toys from China with lead within the paint and plastic. Mattel, with its media hype apology for its poor design of toys never addressed the lead contamination issue. Other imports from China have also shown they can be extremely dangerous (eg. toothpaste, pet food, etc.) to consumers. Now we have babies and young children becoming seriously ill because with chemical poisoning from plastic toy beads manufactured and exported from China. Currently the USA only inspects ~1% of all goods imported from China, while Japan only inspects ~14% of most of these (a better sample but still very poor) same goods. It is obvious the government of China cannot or will not police, control or inspect their own manufacturing export output, so is it time we perf
