Is it theoretically possible to use a black hole in space to travel great distances or through time?

The problem with using black holes to travel, as stated already by Punked, is the incredibly powerful gravitational forces at work. The fact that it can pull a beam of light (something that has anywhere between zero, and practically zero mass depending on who you ask) is telling you something. Solve the problem of gravity however, and you may just have yourself a ticket. Black holes are theorized however to act as rabbit-holes through space-time itself, but because they do not operate within our limited understanding of time progression, there is no telling where…or in fact WHEN you will end up.
