and the color to coordinate with what she wants for her wedding. That’s why everyone ends up with all of these dresses in their closets that they hate. I do think it is the custom for the bride to give each bridesmaid a present–like jewelry to wear with the dress. Generally, it is an expensive proposition to stand up for a wedding because it’s not only the cost of the dress and accessories, they give the bride a shower and gift. I only did it once, and that was enough.
