The expiration dates of medications should be taken seriously. The big problem with medications, and penicillin maybe even more so than most, is loss of potency. So, maybe it’s still safe, but not as effective as it needs to be. Throw it out. Another note about penicillin: you should NEVER have leftover penicillin or other antibiotic. They should be taken as directed until the prescription is gone. And they should not be taken unless a physician has determined that they are appropriate for your condition.
