Amoxicillin can make birth control pills less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. I was prescribed amoxicillin during my first trimester for a urinary tract infection and was told by my Dr. that it would not harm my baby. It’s a standard antibiotic given for many basic treatments, especially UTI’s (which is more of a medical complication to your baby if not treated). Of course, ask your physician if you want to feel better about taking the medicine. Also remember, that when you are prescribed amoxicillin – you must* take every pill in that was prescribed in order for it to be effective. The treatment will be useless if you miss even one.
