I started with the Gerber Biter Biscuits. He couldnt master puffs. With the Biter Biscuits, I just kept a really close eye on him. And we watched a video on How to Save a Life to review Infant first aid. Always be prepared. I HOVERED over him while he had that cookie! And I took it away from him as soon as I thought it posed a choking hazard. Now he is totally fine with puffs, cookies, etc. You name it, he eats it and he doesnt even have any teeth!!! Good Luck. Be safe. Kiss your angel!!

There is a mesh feeder, I think it is called the Baby Safe Feeder. You unscrew it, put a bit of food into it, screw it back up and your baby can get used to chewing thru the mesh bag, get the flavor of the food, but not get any big pieces that he could choke on. I used to use one for my daughter, with the baby cookies, fruit, etc. She loved getting all the flavors of real food, and I felt comfortable that she would not choke. I think One Step Ahead sells them.

Try Gerber Melts. They melt a lot easier. ameade87: Last weekend, I bought some Gerber Yogurt Melts for my daughter. I accidentally bought the kind for TODDLERS instead of CRAWLERS. Well, I gave some to my baby, and after a couple of minutes, she started gagging!! The toddler melts don’t melt in your mouth like the ones for crawlers!! I completely freaked out, but my boyfriend was calm, cool and collected. He gave her some formula that was in her bottle, and it cleared her throat! Thank God he was there. The next time I buy them I will make sure they are for crawlers.

Baby stores and even some supermarkets carry baby cookies that dissolve in their mouth… so you can avoid the whole choking hazard issue…

Start with Gerber Puffs. They are smaller and dissolve easily but will still get your baby used to the idea of a solid food that he can gum and chew up.
