Is it safe to make a pipe out of fimo clay?

As others have said, fimo is plastic and not clay, so it shouldn’t be used for your purpose. But you can still use real clay. It is possible to fire the clay using the same type of firing used by “primitive” people. Make several pipes, as some might not survive the process. By the way, make them a little large, because clay shrinks as it dries and when it is fired. If you wanted something to end up 2″ long, you need to make it 2 1/4″ long to allow for shrinkage. Place the pipes on a layer of ashes or dry sand and cover them with a coffee can or a terra cotta flower pot. Place the can or flower pot on some small stones when you cover the pipes. This allows some air to get to the pipes as they are being fired (which helps burn out impurities in the clay). Prepare material for a small fire around your container. Don’t use very many small sticks, as they burn too quickly and increase the temperature too quickly. Dried cow patties are great (and they don’t smell at all when you burn them),
