Is it safe to feed a 4-year-old ball python a rat with a respiratory infection?
Whenever you want to feed you snake, think of these two sayings: “whatever the food eats, the snake eats” “whatever the food has, the sake will have” Basically: no, I wouldn’t recommend feeding the sick rat to your python. Usually respiratory problems aren’t so bad, but how can you be sure it’s not something more serious that could kill your snake? With sakes, you usually realize they’re sick when it’s too late to save them, as they are very hard to diagnose. If you want your snake to be healthy, feed it healthy food. And feed the mouse/rat healthy food. My mice have the highest quality food you can find, because I care for my snake’s health. I honestly don’t care if the mice are eating well for their own sake. Hope this helped!
