Is it safe to build a separated pathway on the steep section?
Some people have expressed their concern about the safety of a pedestrian facility on the hill between Tedrow Drive and Aurora Drive, which will have a grade in excess of 5%. Other people have requested improved pedestrian routes within this segment. The Department is proceeding with the design of trails in this area to accommodate pedestrians. The pedestrian trails will be surfaced with recycled asphalt, which is crushed pavement, similar to sandy gravel; providing a good walking surface. Bicycle, skateboard, and rollerblade use will be discouraged on these walking trails by the unpaved surface, the narrow width, and signs instructing users to walk their bikes.
