Is it safe in Salford?

Yes! We pride ourselves on our friendly campus with safety and security being central to this. Statistically, crime rates are lower in Salford than they are in Manchester and the University has a relatively low crime rate within its population. Salford, like Manchester, is a city and with it comes the usual trappings of city life. The University takes security very seriously and a range of procedures are in place to protect students, staff and visitors. We have a resident campus policeman from the Greater Manchester police force who offers advice on crime prevention and personal awareness to all students when they arrive at the University and throughout the year. We have extensive CCTV coverage on campus and offer a free campus bus service linking our accommodation sites, car parks and University buildings. Further information on security is available from Mark Shutt, Head of Security or by contacting the UK Recruitment team.
