I try to find a more cost efficient substitute (granola bars=candy bars/cookies), fruit filled newtons at the dollar store (=cookies), fruit filled breakfast bars on cereal aisle (=pop tart candy bars). If you find something your child really likes, there is usually a healthier alternative. Another bonus: At that age, fruit is just as sweet as candy/cookies and they aren’t old enough to learn the difference.
