Oh God, yes, Stryder is really that awful. It is really, truly that awful. Don’t try to name your son after a fantasy novel character. Name him something he can be proud of in *this* world. Not the hobbit world.

Yes, it is really that awful. It is only a good name if he becomes a professional wrestler or a porn star. Otherwise, he’s in for a lifetime of going by his middle name.

I don’t think it’s horrible, I’ve heard worse. But it IS from lord of the Rings– even if you didn’t pick it from that movie, that’s what everyone will equate it with. It could be a bad-*** name, but it might also be asking for ridicule. just be careful…this kid will have to try to get into law school with a name like Stryder Johnson. Might be cool if he wants to be in the NFL, but not so much if he wants to teach third grade. Also, no need to strain relations with your in-laws over this, unless if it’s a REALLY important name to you.
