A floating ship must therefore be exactly the weight of the water it displaces, and of a volume greater than the water it displaces to show part of itself above the water line. A hollow stone structure will allow this to happen providing the stone mason can make stone walls thin enough to enclose a sufficient volume of air for adequate buoyancy.
