SPRINGFIELD — Steve Runnells of the National Weather Service says a Tornado Watch was issued for Tuesday evening for the Springfield area. That Watch was in effect until midnight. Runnells says a Tornado Warning wasn’t issued because the storm system didn’t have “a classical look” of systems that often produce tornadoes. Nothing showed up on the NWS’ radar that would have caused it to issue a Tornado Warning, which would have prompted Greene County Emergency Management to sound the sirens in Springfield.
