Is it possible to utilize the existing vehicle colour as a ground coat?

Yes, in theory it is possible to use the existing colour providing the existing colour finish is in good condition and prepared correctly. It is important to note that if any light scratches, stone chips or scuffs are present on the surface then the translucent mid coat application WILL NOT give total obliteration to these areas. Our general recommendation would be to apply an Outrageous ground coat similar in colour to the vehicles original finish.
