Is it possible to use SODIS during cloudy days?
For the complete inactivation of microorganisms, SODIS depend upon the intensity of solar radiation. During sunny days, microorganisms are killed by the synergetic effect of both the UV-A radiation and temperature. The bottles should be exposed for 7 hours. But during cloudy days, temperature is decreased and UV-A radiation may not be strong. So, bottles need to be exposed for two days in cloudy days for complete inactivation of microorganisms.
