I would think it would be possible to train your cat to go outdoors given time. But definitlvey not by himself to start with.It would be best to keep him indoors for at least a couple of weeks so he gets used to his new surroundings, and so he can look out of the window. And then after that time take him to the door so he can sniff the air ( lol ) so the shock isn`t to much for him, then take him outside in your arms, better still buy a cat lead for him, ( i live in Germany and we have them here) and take him for a walk around the garden, say maybe 5 mins at time and build it up from there. I am in a simliar situation. We got a 6 and a half mnth old house kitten,3 weeks ago and have just started to take her outside, to sniff the air and to walk around the balcony ( first floor ) she has access to the ground.
