Is it possible to Surf by riding Tsunami Waves?

A tsunami is not a wave in the sense that you see surfers riding. A tsunami is a rising of the tide at a rapid rate, not the surging ebb and flow that you usually see near shorelines. As a tsunami moves it’s energy into shallower waters it will take the form of a more “typical” wave. You would probably be able to ride it but catching it would be the problem. It’s speed would be a lot faster than the normal waves that surfers are used to. I guess if conditions were right a surfer could be towed by a jet ski onto a tsunami but even the jet skis would have a difficult time keeping ahead of a large tsunami.
