Yes, in fact it’s rather common. Dinan (www.dinanbmw.com) is one of the major installers of Superchargers in the United States. They make a really excellent product for E39 M5s and E46 M3s. I see very few supercharged non-M-Division cars (not to say they don’t exist, but they are rare in my area. More frequently they are turbocharged.) And a very well-done supercharger package (like Dinan) starts at about $10,000. I know this is very expensive by Dinan supplies an excellent product. The problem is that there are some required modifications. For example, Dinan recommends High Flow Throttle Bodies and Free Flow Exhaust (Required for 423-hp/313 lb-ft torque). Dinan performance cam-shafts are not compatible with Supercharger System (designed for use with stock cams only.) It isn’t necessarily the supercharger that’s expensive; I have seen them go for about $5,500 on the internet, albeit without the intercooler.
