It is possible to create artificial gravity in outer space, but not in different ways as shown in the movies. 1. If you have a space craft which accelerates at 9.8m/s2, then a person inside will feel his actual earth weight if he stands in such a way that his head is towards the direction of motion. 2. If he’s in a circular space craft and its rotating then a person will feel his weight towards the walls. the trick is acceleration and circular motion (when your car swerves while turning at high speeds and you feel pushed on the other side) Most films show artificial gravity, such a technology is not present currently, you might also have magnetic shoes over metallic hulls.
