Is it possible to run ps2 and ps3 emulators on ydl 6.0?
No and no Cheers, Paul P.S. The reason is because the PS3’s hypervisor prevents direct access to the PS3’s nVidia RSX graphics chip. This means no 3D or 2D acceleration – only framebuffer access, which prevents PS3 games from running. In addition – the RSX can’t emulate the PS2’s GS very well. That’s why the PS3’s that offered PS2 back compatibility had the GS in hardware. In the US, both the 20/60 gig hardware & 80 gig software versions had the GS in hardware – the difference was how the PS2’s EE was emulated. The 20/60 gig had the EE in hardware – the 80 gig used the Cell to emulate the EE. That’s also why the US 40 gig doesn’t have any PS2 compatibility at all – it doesn’t have a GS, and the RSX can’t emulate it. It doesn’t matter anyway – even if you have the older PS3s, Linux can’t access the EE/GS or the GS – hypervisor again – so no PS2 emulators either. Sorry.
