Is it possible to run MPEx without a browser ?

MPEx no longer runs within a browser as a Java applet but, rather, is downloaded as a Java program and run through Java Web Start, which is packaged as part of the Java Runtime Environment package (see just above if you need to acquire this). Once you have downloaded MPEx, you can run it without using a browser, or even without being online, by using the Java Web Start console. Start the console with the command ‘javaws -viewer’ from a command or terminal window (just the command ‘javaws’ will show all the available options). From the console, you can run run any of the Java Web Start programs you have downloaded, create shortcuts to them, etc. If you are online, Web Start should check for newer versions of any program you happen to run within Web Start.
