Is it possible to request sealed my oui record?
By statute, you are entitled to have a misdemeanor record sealed 10 years after the last interation that you had with the court, meaning no intervening events and from the time that you completed probation. For felonies, the time period is 15 years. Prior to the statute time periods you may request that a judge order your record sealed. We have done this many times, especially in the last year or two given the down turn in the economy and the resulting difficulty that people are experiencing applying for jobs. However, since it has only been a few months since your last interaction with the court, it is unlikely that a judge would be willing to seal your record so early. You can try if you like, but I suspect that it may be a waste of time and money at this early juncture. I suggest that you wait several years before attempting to do this. There is no penalty if you try and fail. However, it is difficult at best to do thie with an attorney, so I would not recommend that you do it oyurs
