Is it possible to remove that realtek audio manager without removing the audio driver?

I uninstalled the Realtek package from Add/Remove Programs. Then go to Device Manager and scan hardware changes. When it prompts for a driver, choose realrek the driver WDM subdirectory path. It will now install just the driver, not the realtek tray application. But I no longer get the audio icon overlays from SCM. I still do get the from brightness changes. I’m still in doubt if this is wat I want.
