Is it possible to prepare for English SATs at Key Stage 1?
If you are thinking about English SATs revision at Key Stage 1 there are some things to consider. I have included some points here which apply to English SATs at KS2 and beyond but the principles apply equally well at KS1. The fundamental point about English as a topic is that it is not the sort of subject that you can cram the night before an exam. Skills need to be developed over time. Take reading, for example. Back in August 2005 the then Welsh Education Secretary said, “Strong basic skills developed from an early age can have a huge impact on a person’s life.” Many concur with the idea that spending a short time reading each day can make a dramatic difference to a child’s literacy skills.
