Is it possible to over-dress for an interview?
If you’re looking for an office position, I would say no, it’s not possible to overdress. If on the other hand you’re interviewing for a construction job in an Armani suit, they’re likely to have a good chuckle and toss your resume in the “circular file bin” after you’ve left. The advice, “dress for the job you want to do someday, not the job you have now,” is solid. If you’re interviewing for an office job, dress like you belong in upper management. If you’re at that construction job, maybe dress like you’re the site supervisor.
