Is it possible to manually focus the Stylus 740?
Occasionally it is desirable to have the ability to manually focus a digital camera. A good example is shooting through the windows of a tour bus on a rainy day. The camera may choose to focus on the raindrops on the window rather than the actual subject. Although the Stylus 740 does not offer a manual focus mode, you can use the Focus Lock feature to force the camera to focus on your intended subject. First, choose a test subject that is as close to the camera as your intended subject. Compose the shot in the LCD monitor. Press the shutter button halfway down; the camera will automatically focus on the test subject. The focus will be locked at this distance until you release the shutter button or take the picture. Re-compose your shot using the intended target, and then press the shutter button all the way down.
