Is it possible to increase the nitrogen in the atmosphere to counteract the increase in CO2?

Increasing the amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere would have no effect on global warming. The amount of heat trapped by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere depends on the *amount* of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere (i.e. the number of molecules). It doesn’t depend on the *percentage* of greenhouse gas molecules. Think about it this way – let’s say you’re in a room sitting on a couch with 1 blanket on you and 49 tennis balls on the ground. You can add another 50 tennis balls to the room, and it will decrease the percentage of objects that are blankets in the room (from 2% to 1%). But the tennis balls won’t have any impact on how warm the blanket is making you.
