No it’s not possible to have a zero reading. There are several ways in which cholesterol is measured. The most common (and what you read about)) is TOTAL cholesterol. In most countries (excluding USA) this is measured in mmol/l. Anything below 5.2mmol/l is desirable. There is also a lower limit however, of 3.5mmol/l. So if you TOTAL cholesterol is 3.0mmol/l this is unusually low. If you are on cholesterol lowering medication, you should be on a lower dose. Go speak to your doctor. Other measurements of cholesterol are: Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) the “bad” cholesterol and High Desnity Lipoprotein (HDL) the “good” cholesterol. Generally you want LDL <4.0mmol/l and HDL ABOVE 1.1mmol/l. All up, ANY of those reading ZERO would be impossible.
