Is it possible to grow pineapples in a greenhouse?
Sure, it’s actually rather easy. It takes about 18-24 months to get a ripe fruit when starting with an unrooted top or sucker. The biggest concern is making sure your greenhouse does not get below about 50 degrees in the winter; 60 degrees is better, but sometimes not an option because of heating costs. I generally start by rooting the plants in a 1-gallon pot, then transplanting into a 3-gallon pot once rooted, and after about 10 months moving it into a 5-gallon pot. Once the plant is large, you can force it to flower by stimulating it with ethylene. Once a pineapple has started to form a fruit, only water it when the soil becomes dry or the fruit will taste watery. Also, only fertilize once every 1-2 months will the fruit is maturing.
