Is it possible to grow any species of pitcher plants in Southern Ontario?

Very possible if you choose the right species. Your biggest challenge is going to be finding a proper planting container if you’re going to move it indoors. As was already mentioned, pitcher plants need a high level of humidity. If they’re grown indoors, an empty fish tank or large glass bowl or jar can be used. Outdoors, the sun hitting the glass may cause too high of a temperature inside for your plants. You can use a large shallow container outdoors (the plastic bottom for a large (40cm or larger) plant pot will work, but them you’ll have to find a way to keep the humidity level high when you bring the plant in. There is a species of pitcher plant (Sarracenia purpurea, the purple pitcher plant) which is native to Ontario, which you could grow outdoors year-round if you are able to provide it with a small bog or pond margin in which to grow: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symb…
