No it is not. Student and PSW visas carry no residency rights that count towards settlement. You would have to remain on a student visa for 10 years to qualify under the 10 year rule, but that is mainly used for children who have gone through the school system in the UK and on to Uni. Non EEA nationals who come to the UK on student visas are rarely allowed to study continuously for 10 years. If you want to work after you complete your studies you must apply for a PSW or work visa. You cannot work on a student visa unless you are still studying and working part time only. EDIT If you were to get work that would allow you to transfer into a work visa category, you must be a legal resident for five years after which you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (settlement). Once you have held ILR for a full year, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship. The rules are changing in July next year and ILR will be replaced by probationary citizenship.
