I assume the current plug is seal-fixed to the end and if this is the case snip it off using a pair of side cutters as close to the plug as you can get. If you have no side cutters, do it with a small sharp knife by laying down the plug and gently pressing the blade through the wire. Cut through at a slight angle so that if the knife slips it goes away from your fingers.
