Is it possible to cure yourself of stage fright?
I think that nerves are good. They remind you how important singing and dancing are to you, and how much you want to please the people in the audience. I don’t think there’s ever a way to get rid of nerves entirely, and personally, I don’t want to. On the flip side of nerves, stage fright that cripples you and harms your performance, or keeps you from performing, is never a good thing. I used to be so afraid of singing in public that I’d be throwing up the day of the performance, and I would be shaking like a leaf and ghost white when I went on stage. My voice was really timid and breathy, and not very nice to listen to. I think the trick to getting over that horrible stage fright is just to get used to performing. There’s a mindset, really, that you have to have and it’s like this: “My voice is good, and for every one person that doesn’t like me, there will be at least three that do, so f— the person who doesn’t like it.” You really have to get the attitude that you rock, and just d
