Is it possible to commute to Brooklyn College from outside of New York City?
Students commute from as far as Long Island. Some of these commuters take the Long Island Railroad to Flatbush Avenue Station in Brooklyn, and from there it is a twenty minute subway ride on the 2 or 5 trains to Flatbush Avenue / Brooklyn College terminal. For drivers, there is both free and metered parking around the school. Some residents in the neighborhood rent out their driveways. One B.A.-M.D. student who commutes by car from Long Island says, “Street parking is very manageable. It is a safe neighborhood so don’t worry about your car being broken into. Personally, I have never had any problems, and I’ve been driving for the past three and a half years. Students always manage to find a parking spot. It’s just a matter of how far you are going to walk. The farthest I ever parked was about a 15-20 minute walk.
