There are tons of “scanner” antennas. Yes an outdoor pole mounted antenna will indeed increase the reception range of your scanner. You will need a mast (pole) and an antenna. The HIGHER it is placed the more area you can cover. VHF signals used by aircraft are basically “line of sight” signals so the more the antenna can “see” the more it will receive!
