This kind of a job isn’t one for amateuras you can really damage your car if you install it incorrectly. At the very least, you’ll need the kit you’re planning to install, tools such as crimpers, wire clippers, etc, and it’s a MUST that you have the wiring diagram of the car (you’ll most likely need the manufacturer’s service manual). As for how a remote starter works, they allow you to start the car via a keyfob a predeterminate amount of time before you’re planning on driving it, to allow the heater and air conditioner to bring it to temperate levels inside, as well as to warm up the engine. You will still need the key to actually drive the car (obvious, since the steering column is locked without it).
