Is it possible to blur the background when taking photos with a normal digital camera?
There are online PDF manuals for your camera at [1] if you’ve lost yours. The Portrait mode will go for a wide aperture, which will result in the smallest depth of field – the effect you want. Unfortunately, it often also alters the colour rendition to suit flesh tones. If you’re happy with that, try some experiments – after all, memory card space is cheap. Otherwise, as already suggested, photo editing software exists online and free downloads (I use GIMP) that can apply a mask to your subject and then blur the rest. If you don’t use it with a light touch, then the finished result might be too obvious (to an experienced eye).
