In a manner of speaking, yes. Cutting yourself points to a more serious issue of self esteem. You are having trouble with your “value” and feel like hurting/defacing yourself is treating you as you deserve to be. This is why it might seem to feel good and become addictive as most things that feel good do. This can be a very dangerous practice. I say that because you will eventually not get the good feeling after doing it enough times and will feel the need to escalate what you are doing to feel the same way cutting yourself initially made you feel. That can lead to a very bad place. Don’t take this lightly. Please talk to someone professional about these feelings.
