Is it possible to apply for the research-stream LLM program without first attaining an LLB degree?
Yes. Although applicants to the research-stream LLM program usually require an LLB in order to be admitted as a graduate student, in a very limited number of cases, candidates may be admitted to the Master of Laws without a completed LLB. These candidates must possess a superior academic record and academic experience directly relevant to their proposed graduate study in law. The goal of admitted students without formal qualifications in the study of law is to encourage interdisciplinary research. Students applying in this category should pay extra attention to the preparation of an extended statement of interest (5-7 pages). A similar opportunity is available to a very limited number of students who wish to enrol in the PhD program without a completed LLB or LLM.
