Holly Crap – Your getting bad advise. Just install the crown molding over the texture, caulk and paint. Think about how a new home is built. The sheetrock company installs the wall board, tapes and textures before the carpenters come in. The carpenters install the trim over the texture without any additional prep. The painter follow the carpenters and simple caulk the the joint between the trim and wall board and then paint. Do your homework on how to install crown molding. It is the hardest of all trim to install. Outside corners are cut on 45, but the inside corner should be coped. Many good carpenter have trouble getting tight joints in crown molding. Good luck – hope this was help-full.
