Is it possible to accomplish mechanical filtration using APTsorb?

0

APTsorb’s angular fracture and size range tend to produce excellent mechanical filtration of solids when the media is used in a conventional sand filter. Testing at the Soudan mine in northern Minnesota has demonstrated removal of colloidal particulate down to below one micron. Particulate filtration will be different in every wastewater due to site specific characteristics of the particulate present but results should be consistently better than that of conventional sand. APTsorb can be effectively back flushed in much the same way that sand is. Flow rates may need to be reduced due to the lower density. Back flushing has been performed at a rate of four gallons/square foot without the loss of media.
