Is it possible for some with a schizoid personality disorder to also have an avoidant personality disorder?

No not really. They both exhibit some of the same behavior (isolating) but for very different reasons. Someone with Avoidant isolates themselves because they are terrified of people and they have huge panic attacks when forced to be social. They wish with all their heart that they could be different and they are very lonely. Someone with Schizoid PD isolates because they want to, they are not afraid of people, they just don’t want to be social. They do not want to change, and are not at all lonely. I don’t know about different types of Avoidant but I imagine there are because everyone is a bit different in how they think and feel. See www.selfinexile.com for info on different types of Schizoid PD.
